Congratulations to Laura DeLeon, a member of Waco Legal Professionals Association. Laura was announced as the 2020-2021 Legal Professional of the Year during the Annual Conference on April 17, 2021.
Her employer, J. D. Ressetar had the following to say about Laura DeLeon when he completed his portion of the Texas Association of Legal Professionals Legal Professional of the Year nomination form:
It is with great pleasure that I recommend Laura DeLeon for the Texas Legal Professional of the Year. I have worked with Laura for over 10 years and believe there is no-one more qualified for this award.
The Zimmerman Law Firm is a litigation focused firm handling a large volume of cases. Laura is responsible for administration of the case from the start, helping draft the petition, to the final resolution of the case, either settlement or trial. For each case in her inventory, Laura is responsible for docket scheduling, inbound and outbound discovery, scheduling and preparing or depositions, helping with experts, preparing for mediation and many other tasks required to properly litigate a case. Laura’s knowledge, attention to detail, dedication and hard work make her an invaluable member of our team. Our firm, and most importantly our clients, certainly benefits from her ability as a professional paralegal.
Laura is also the managing paralegal over the five other paralegals in our office. Laura has implemented standard operating procedures for our litigation department and facilitated staff training. Laura is the go-to person to answer questions for the litigation department and is an example of how to effectively litigate a personal injury claim. Laura’s leadership in the litigation department has been instrumental to the success of the firm.
Laura’s skill, professionalism and enjoyment of the profession make her well deserving of the Texas Legal Professional of the Year.
Mentor, advisor, counselor, teacher, encourager, loyal friend, worker-bee: all of these words describe Beth. She saw potential in others, and then encouraged you to grow personally and professionally. Not only did she encourage you, Beth participated in teaching you how to accomplish your goals. She walked beside you and provided the resources necessary for you to succeed.
Beth has educated and taught many members of NALS, as well as others to develop their leadership skills. She was instrumental in developing our certification exams and served in many capacities on our state level all the way up to President.
2020-2021 Rising Star
Donna has been involved with Texas ALP for a long time. I am not sure I would call her a rising star; however, the description of this award is exactly on-point with how I would describe her. She has always been the one to encourage participation in not only the Local and State Associations but also in the National Association. She is someone I look up to and can always turn to for guidance and support. She is a great friend, sister, wife, mother, and grandmother that has always taken
pride in her career and shares that with so many. She has personally encouraged me to be more active in Texas ALP and has been there whenever I have any questions about how I should go about doing certain tasks. She is always willing to encourage and give direction where she can.
The attitude that Donna has for this profession is an inspiration for myself and I know quite a few members who share this opinion of her. To me she is the epitome of a Rising Star.
In addition to the Legal Professional of the Year Award, Texas ALP will award two new awards at the 66th Annual Conference. All nominees will be submitted by Texas ALP members.
The Legal Professional of the Year Award will recognize one of its members as being the personification of a legal support professional. The rules and nomination forms are added for your convenience.
The “Rising Star” award will recognize a member who inspires other members to become involved and who motivates those inspired members to become the best they can be in the legal professionan. Upon receipt of all qualifying Rising Star nomination forms, the Executive Committee will select the recipient of this award. The nomination form is found here.
The “Mentor” award will recognize the role model, counselor, advisor, and friend we look to in our professional lives—our “go to” person when we need direction. After receipt of qualifying nomination forms for the Mentor award, all Texas ALP members will be invited to vote for their most inspiring mentor. The nomination form is found here.
NOTE THE DEADLINE FOR ALL NOMINATIONS IS FEBRUARY 13, 2021. Please note all instructions in the forms.
